2007 has been a Great year for Gizmo! In June 2007, Randy McAteer (handler
extrordinare) took Gizmo to a couple of shows in Canada and speedily
obtained his Canadian Championship! What a TEAM! Gizmo is now back in
Rankin Inlet with his 'daddy' Arnie. Hopefully we will get the opportunity
to selectively show Gizmo in the future. Thank you to all the judges that
recognized our beautiful boy!

Winter 06/07
Gizmo spent the winter of 06/07 in sunny Florida with Randy McAteer and Sweetie Kay. He needed some show training and Randy was just the person to do it. On January 13, Gizmo entered the show ring for the first time at the Inverness Florida Kennel Club show and took his first Five Point Major with a Best of Winners under Judge Pete Dawkins. Turns out this was a sign of things to come as after only 11 Shows, including a GROUP 2 from the classes, Gizmo finished his American Championship!
HUGE Thank you to Randy and Sweetie for taking such great care of Gizmo.

We had Gizmo in Calgary for much of the month of July 2006, and took the opportunity to enter him in the 2006 Calgary Sieger Show sponsored by the Rottweiler Club of Canada. It was very well attended with 110+ Rottweilers entered. Many high quality dogs and some "big names" were in attendance from all over Western Canada and the US. We were thrilled to have Gizmo take the "open class" and a V1 rating under highly respected German Judge Werner Walter. It was fair to say that Gizmo turned many heads. Gizmo had a great "coming out party" and first show to say the least.
Overall Impression/Temperament/Critique:
"large, strong bone, strong head with medium pronounced cheekbones, dark brown eyes, medium sized correct carried ears, dark pigmentation, strong neck, slight cheek and throat skin, deep wide chest, straight front, strong well closed paws, straight back, strong rear correct angulation, excellent movement, short coarse coat, red brown markings, scissors bite"

Darkstone's Built Tough, AKA "Gizmo," has matured very nicely, and at the point of writing, is now 3.5 years old. The great promise he showed at 18 months when we re-acquired his ownership has been fulfilled. Gizmo is the son of our beloved "Leroy," who passed away in 2005. He is the spitting image of his "Daddy" in many ways, including his head type, and his overall appearance. Leroy did what a stud dog is intended to do, and improved upon himself, producing in Gizmo what is overall, a Rottweiler male that we are very proud to have produced out of our own lines. He definitely demonstrates the "WOW!" factor when viewed in person.
 3.5 Years
Gizmo stands approximately 26" at the withers, and weighs in at approximately 115-120 pounds, depending upon his condition. We are extremely happy with his overall type, structure, balance, and movement. The photos at 3.5 years accompanying this page speak for themselves. He possesses the head type we strive for, with a large head and neck, highly defined stop, and a proportionate length and depth of muzzle. He has a deep scissor bite with full dentition, very dark almond shaped eyes, and a great deal of black pigment in his mouth and lips. He is also very dry in the corners of the mouth.
Gizmo demonstrates a very strong, compact top line, which stays firmly in place even when moving. His rear his well developed, in terms of curve of stifle, thickness, and rear angulation. Gizmo's front shoulder set is very correct, and his front is perfectly straight, both when standing and when moving. Overall, his movement is excellent. While he reaches and drives powerfully, he still "floats" effortlessly at a trot. His side gate is a thing of beauty. The pasterns are firm, and the feet are tight. He has a strong croup, and an very nice tail set.
 3.5 Years
Gizmo's coat is short, dense, and perfectly straight, and his markings are ideal. His markings are a deep mahogany, and are very clean, with very little bleed through.
Gizmo has been rated OFA "good" in regard to hips, and "clear" in regard to elbows.
Gizmo has the temperament of a working dog. He is friendly when introduced, but also possesses a very high working drive, and a great deal of hardness. He would be ideal for Schutzhund or other working trials.but unfortunately, he makes his home in Rankin Inlet, which is close to the arctic circle up on the Hudson Bay. Given the remoteness of the region, Gizmo has little opportunity to participate in shows or working events. Gizmo lives with his "Dad" Arnie Brown, who has bred, raised, and trained Rottweilers for around 20 years.
